Rutz Family Scholarship

The Rutz Family Scholarship offers two $1,000 scholarships to worthy high school seniors planning to attend a trade school, technical college, or 4-year college or university. Preference to students pursuing a career in education or healthcare.

Scholarship of $1,000

The award offers a one-time $1,000 scholarship to two students.

 

Selected students will be asked to appear for a personal interview with the Algoma Area Education Foundation Inc. Scholarship Committee.

Scholarship Requirements

Criteria

  • Must be a graduate of Algoma High School. 

  • Must have a 2.5 or higher GPA.

  • Must be enrolled in a trade school, technical college, or four-year college or university.

  • Preference to applicants pursuing a career in education or healthcare.

  • Involvement in extracurricular activities and community service.

Application and Essay

  • Complete the scholarship application including a copy of your high school transcript from 8th semester.

  • Provide a letter of recommendation by a representative of Algoma High School.

  • Application will be selected by recommendation of the Scholarship Committee.

  • ​These scholarships will use the AAEF essay questions. If you are not applying for an AAEF scholarship, you will still need to choose one of the questions from the AAEF essay question options for that scholarship and write an essay. You do not need to write an additional essay for the Rutz Family Scholarship and the Bob Junio applications if you are applying for the AAEF scholarships.
